Quick Overview

The Maya believed in a cyclical nature of time. Maya priest provided prophetic outlook on the future or past based on the number relations of their calendars and significant past dates such as birth. If the interpretations of the priests spelled bad times to come, offerings and sacrifices would be performed with the intention of satisfying the gods. Offerings were provided to the gods in purified vessels.

Our galaxy has a centre which all the stars take millions of years to revolve around. It is located in the starriest part of the Milky Way, as seen from Earth. Modern scientists today believe that this center contains an enormous black hole star. The last time our sun aligned with this center occurred on a fall equinox 6,450 years ago, approximately the dawn of Old World civilizations. On Dec 21, 2012, on a winter solstice our sun will align once again with this center.

According to the Maya in the still existing Dresden Codex, we are currently in the fourth and final age of their long count calendar. The calendar ends on December 21, 2012. All three previous ages concluded by total cataclysmic destruction.
